New sounds in classical music
The following pieces of music by Bach and Grieg were adapted to feature the sound of the wind orchestra of variable stars, a soundfont created by sonifying the brightness changes of variable stars, simply by mirroring the shape of the light variations in the resulting sound waves (same timbre). Score adaptations include modifications due to the new instruments’ characteristics, such as note range, timbre similarity, and relative intensity, in addition to adjustments for playback rendering (using MuseScore software, version 4.4.3).
